Fiji – A Few Island Facts
Fiji is a group of 330 islands spread over 250,000 km of ocean. In Fiji, although English is the official spoken language, almost everyone is bilingual. Both Fijian and Hindu languages are widely spoken. Fiji’s tropical climate includes temperatures that range in the low 80′s Fahrenheit from July to September and high 80′s Fahrenheit from October to June.
Koro Sun Resort is situated 15 km from Savusavu airport on the Southern tip of Vanua Levu. Vanua Levu is Fiji’s second largest island. The island of Savusavu is known for its beautiful beaches and pristine reefs offering some of the finest world class diving.
What to Wear
Tropical warm weather climate.
- Fiji enjoys a tropical climate – you’ll be able to travel light.
- Reef-walkers are great for protecting your feet if you are exploring exposed reefs at low tide. Our Bat Island Cave is an excursion not to be missed.
- Winter is less humid and you can even feel a little cool in the evening, so pack a lightweight shawl or long sleeved shirt.
- Our advice would be to take a lightweight, casual wardrobe of loose fitting, natural fabrics eg. linen, silk or cotton.
- You may like to include some dressier, lightweight clothes for the evening. Take the opportunity to dress up if you like, or stay casual if you prefer. The choice is yours. We require shirts at all times in our dining room along with footwear. We offer a casual atmosphere at Koro Sun.
- Take care not to offend local sensibilities, in villages and markets. At such times, cover up and we’d recommend a sarong. Or buy a Sulu when you’re here, it’s the Fijian equivalent and is worn by both men and women.
- If you plan on walking in the jungle, bring a pair of closed toe shoes.
- And don’t forget a hat, sunglasses and sun protection.
A valid passport for at least six (6) months beyond the intended period of stay and a ticket for return or onward travel to another country, which he/she is authorized to enter, is required. Entry visas are granted on arrival for a stay of 4 months or less for nationals of approved countries.
