Merlyn Young

I was born and raised on the Hawaiian island of Kauai to Jack and Patsy Young. Most of my adolescent years were spent exploring the beach and ocean with my two brothers loving the relaxed island atmosphere. My family spent most summers in Colorado looking after our first resort, Chipeta Sun Lodge and Spa, high in the Rocky Mountains. The resort industry was an environment I grew up in with a vision of carrying on the family business as my career. This path was certain after completing a degree in business and sustainable tourism at Colorado State University. Nearly a decade after my family purchased and transformed Koro Sun Resort, I joined the development and marketing of our property here in Savusavu. I find great joy in telling the story of our Hidden Paradise to people throughout the world encouraging them to visit our beautiful resort I call home.

Josh Warner

Josh grew up an avid young photographer in Michigan. Like many kids, he dreamed of making movies. At nineteen years of age he followed his heart, and moved to Los Angeles. Less than a year later, he was working in the Hollywood film industry full time. Josh has been a Union Prop Maker and Special Weapons Handler now for twenty-two years, additionally he has been credited on such films as Men In Black, Godzilla, Perfect Storm, Deep Blue Sea, We Were Soldiers Once And Young to name a few. Throughout his career, Josh has worked as a Camera Operator (above water and below), still photographer, Grip, and has worked as an Electrician, learning many of the crafts associated with filmmaking. In 2001 Josh traveled to Koro Sun Resort with a dive group from Hollywood Divers. He still tells the story of the amazing diving here and his first Fijian experiences. Within one year, Josh returned to Koro Sun Resort where he began work as our Special Projects Manager working in paradise. Josh remains an active videographer in the Hollywood scene with freelance projects from time to time. He was hired on as a crewmember during Survivor Fiji, and had also traveled to Dominica to film the Pirate Master series. As our Special Projects Manager of Koro Sun Resort he still finds time to enjoy his passion for photography. We are delighted that he is part of our team. He is enjoying the local lifestyle and has retained his youthful exuberance, fitting right in to the community and resort family. When you meet him, you to will know why he has settled in Savusavu, Fiji’s “hidden paradise”.

Linda Mangelsen

Linda was born in Ohio, but exchanged the beauty of America’s heartland for the majesty of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains as a young adult. There, she honed her talent as a gifted artist, and mother of three boys.. Her sense of adventure led her into the travel industry more than a decade ago, and her creativity and attention to detail became valued skills as she added event planning to her repertoire -- she has now been recognized as one of the top wedding planners in the South Pacific. Linda’s unique abilities, combined with her inspiration, appreciation for beauty, and passion for the Fijian islands and people have come together to make the dreams of many a traveler come true.

Saras Swamy

Ni Sa Bula & Welcome to Koro Sun Resort! I am Saras Swamy, Born and raised in Fiji, Indo-Fijian. Being in the tourism industry for the last 14 years, I had the opportunity to work for some of the Northern Resorts in Fiji. I have been living and working at Koro Sun Resort for the past 3 years as the Reservations Manager. I am at your service from the beginning or your journey and till the end of it! I love my job and I just love looking after the guests! This is a real paradise, a piece of heaven on earth. Here at Koro Sun Resort I look forward to making your dream vacation come true! Cathleen Davies

Cathleen Davies has a varied career history that includes science, business and the hospitality industry. Born and raised in Southern California, she moved to Kauai, Hawaii after high school and began working for restaurants and resorts in different capacities, from waitress to manager. After leaving Kauai, she finished her studies at the University of Hawaii and began working as a marine biologist. She then transitioned into biotechnology and became the director of a Biotech Center in San Diego. Later, she successfully created, started, managed and sold an international Science Education company. Now, Cathleen is returning to life in the islands and will use her creativity, management and customer service skills as part of the Koro Sun management team.

Jack Young and Patsy Young

Jack and Patsy Young are the owner/operators of Koro Sun Resort since 1996. Jack was on a diving trip through the Fiji Islands when he came upon the Kontiki resort. The property was overgrown with vines having been abandoned for a couple of years when they transformed the resort into our hidden paradise. Koro Sun Resort was the second addition to our small resort collection which started in Colorado. Enjoying the diving, hiking, snorkeling, and friendliness of the Fijians have kept them coming and going from Fiji for well over a decade now. We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
